30th - 31st July
This was our first overnight sea kayak trip at TPP, we did a circuit of Lake Brunner in a clockwise direction.
We each practiced leading the group and giving information of the area to see what its like to be a sea kayak guide. We each had a turn towing others. On the second morning we had to wake up at 5:30 to leave by 7:30. it was extremely cold and all of our gear was wet from the previous day, the freezing level came down to about 300 meters and it was raining pretty hard as we were trying to pack up. This was actually a very challenging day for us because of the temperature, but the sun came out later in the day and everyones spirits lifted.
Duration: 2 days
Route: clockwise around Lake Brunner, staying at Bain Bay overnight.
Weather: quite windy, overcast, southerly so it was cold.
